Final Judgement

While we are still living, or until Jesus comes again, we have every opportunity to repent (change our ways from evil to good). But in the end we will all be judged (see What does the Bible say about salvation?).

Everyone, the still living and the resurrected dead, will face God's judgement. Even those who profess Christianity will be judged by the deeds they have done in life (Matthew 7:21-23, 2 Corinthians 5:10). Those who have lived righteous lives will be granted eternal life; those who have lived evil lives will be condemned to eternal punishment (Matthew 5:29-30, 25:31-46, Mark 9:43-48). The apostle Paul put it this way:

Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. (NIV, 2 Corinthians 5:6-10)

پس همواره دلگرمیم، هرچند می‌دانیم تا زمانی که در این بدن منزل داریم، از خداوند غریبیم،۷زیرا با ایمان زندگی می‌کنیم، نه با دیدار.۸آری، ما چنین دلگرمیم و ترجیح می‌دهیم از بدن غربت جسته، نزد خداوند منزل گیریم.۹پس خواه در بدن منزل داشته باشیم و خواه در غربت از آن به‌سر بریم، این را هدف قرار داده‌ایم که او را خشنود سازیم.۱۰زیرا همۀ ما باید در برابر مسند داوری مسیح حاضر شویم، تا هر‌کس بنا‌بر اعمال خوب یا بدی که در ایام سکونت در بدن خود کرده است، سزا یابد

دوم قرنتیان 5: 6-10

The righteous who are granted eternal life will receive new spiritual bodies that are in some ways similar to the old earthly body and in some ways different.

So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. (NIV, 1 Corinthians 15:42-44)

در مورد رستاخیز مردگان نیز چنین است. آنچه کاشته می‌شود، فسادپذیر است؛ آنچه برمی‌خیزد، فسادناپذیر.۴۳در ذلّت کاشته می‌شود، در جلال برمی‌خیزد. در ضعف کاشته می‌شود، در قوّت برمی‌خیزد.۴۴بدنِ نفسانی کاشته می‌شود، بدنِ روحانی برمی‌خیزد. اگر بدن نفسانی وجود دارد، بدن روحانی نیز وجود دارد

²¹ "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. ²² On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?' ²³ Then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers.'

³¹ "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. ³² All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, ³³ and he will put the sheep at his right hand and the goats at the left. ³⁴ Then the king will say to those at his right hand, 'Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; ³⁵ for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, ³⁶ I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.' ³⁷ Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? ³⁸ And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? ³⁹ And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?' ⁴⁰ And the king will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.' ⁴¹ Then he will say to those at his left hand, 'You that are accursed, depart from me into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; ⁴² for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, ⁴³ I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not give me clothing, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.' ⁴⁴ Then they also will answer, 'Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take care of you?' ⁴⁵ Then he will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.' ⁴⁶ And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

هنگامی که پسر‌انسان با شکوه و جلال خود به همراه همۀ فرشتگان بیاید، بر تخت پرشکوه خود خواهد نشست۳۲و همۀ قومها در برابر او حاضر خواهند شد و او همچون شبانی که گوسفندها را از بزها جدا می‌کند، مردمان را به دو گروه تقسیم خواهد کرد؛۳۳گوسفندان را در سمت راست و بزها را در سمت چپ خود قرار خواهد داد.۳۴سپس به آنان که در سمت راست او هستند خواهد گفت: ”بیایید، ای برکت یافتگان از پدر من، و پادشاهی‌ای را به‌میراث یابید که از آغاز جهان برای شما آماده شده بود.۳۵زیرا گرسنه بودم، به من خوراک دادید؛ تشنه بودم، به من آب دادید؛ غریب بودم، به من جا دادید.۳۶عریان بودم، مرا پوشانیدید؛ مریض بودم، عیادتم کردید؛ در زندان بودم، به دیدارم آمدید.“۳۷آنگاه پارسایان پاسخ خواهند داد: ”سرور ما، کِی تو را گرسنه دیدیم و به تو خوراک دادیم، یا تشنه دیدیم و به تو آب دادیم؟۳۸کِی تو را غریب دیدیم و به تو جا دادیم و یا عریان، و تو را پوشانیدیم؟۳۹کِی تو را مریض و یا در زندان دیدیم و به دیدارت آمدیم؟“۴۰پادشاه در پاسخ خواهد گفت: ”آمین، به شما می‌گویم، آنچه برای یکی از کوچکترین برادران من کردید، در واقع برای من کردید.“۴۱آنگاه پادشاه به آنان که در سمت چپ او هستند خواهد گفت: ”ای ملعونان، از من دور شوید و به آتش جاودانی روید که برای ابلیس و فرشتگان او آماده شده است،۴۲زیرا گرسنه بودم، خوراکم ندادید؛ تشنه بودم، آبم ندادید؛۴۳غریب بودم، جایم ندادید؛ عریان بودم، مرا نپوشانیدید؛ مریض و زندانی بودم، به دیدارم نیامدید.“۴۴آنان پاسخ خواهند داد: ”سرور ما، کی تو را گرسنه و تشنه و غریب و عریان و مریض و در زندان دیدیم و خدمتت نکردیم؟“۴۵در جواب خواهد گفت: ”آمین، به شما می‌گویم، آنچه برای یکی از این کوچکترینها نکردید، در واقع برای من نکردید.“۴۶پس آنان به مجازات جاودان داخل خواهند شد، امّا پارسایان به حیات جاودان
