Mark 1

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

¹The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

²It is written in Isaiah the prophet:

"I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way"
³"a voice of one calling in the desert,
'Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.' "⁴And so John came, baptizing in the desert region and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. ⁵The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. ⁶John wore clothing made of camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. ⁷And this was his message: "After me will come one

more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. ⁸I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."

The Baptism and Temptation of Jesus

⁹At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. ¹⁰As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. ¹¹And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."

¹²At once the Spirit sent him out into the desert, ¹³and he was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.

یحیی، هموارکنندۀ راه مسیح

مَرقُس ۱:‏۲-۸ - مَتّی ۳:‏۱-۱۱؛ لوقا ۳:‏۲-۱۶

۱آغاز بشارت دربارۀ عیسی مسیح، پسر خدا.

۲در کتاب اِشَعْیای نبی نوشته شده است:

«اینک رسول خود را پیشاپیش تو می‌فرستم،

که راهت را هموار خواهد کرد؛»

۳«ندای آن که در بیابان فریاد برمی‌آورد:

”راه را برای خداوند آماده کنید!

مسیر او را هموار سازید.“‌»

۴مطابق این نوشته، یحیای تعمیددهنده در بیابان ظهور کرده، به تعمیدِ توبه برای آمرزش گناهان موعظه می‌کرد.۵اهالی دیار یهودیه و مردمان اورشلیم، همگی نزد او می‌رفتند و به گناهان خود اعتراف کرده، در رود اردن از دست او تعمید می‌گرفتند.۶یحیی جامه از پشم شتر بر تن می‌کرد و کمربندی چرمین بر کمر می‌بست، و ملخ و عسل صحرایی می‌خورد.۷او موعظه می‌کرد و می‌گفت: «پس از من، کسی تواناتر از من خواهد آمد که من حتی شایسته نیستم خم شوم و بند کفشهایش را بگشایم.۸من شما را با آب تعمید داده‌ام، امّا او با روح‌القدس تعمیدتان خواهد داد.»

تعمید عیسی

مَرقُس ۱:‏۹-۱۱ - مَتّی ۳:‏۱۳-۱۷؛ لوقا ۳:‏۲۱ و ۲۲

۹در آن روزها، عیسی از ناصرۀ جلیل آمد و در رود اردن از دست یحیی تعمید گرفت.۱۰چون عیسی از آب برمی‌آمد، در‌‌دم دید که آسمان گشوده شده و روح همچون کبوتری بر او فرود می‌آید.۱۱و ندایی از آسمان دررسید که «تو پسر محبوب من هستی و من از تو خشنودم.»

عیسی در بوتۀ آزمایش

۱۲روح بی‌درنگ عیسی را به بیابان برد.۱۳عیسی چهل روز در بیابان بود و شیطان وسوسه‌اش می‌کرد. او با حیوانات وحشی به‌سر می‌برد و فرشتگان خدمتش می‌کردند
