Mark 5
The Healing of a Demon-possessed Man
1They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes. 2When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an evil spirit came from the tombs to meet him. 3This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him any more, not even with a chain. 4For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enou
gh to subdue him. 5Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones.
6When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7He shouted at the top of his voice, "What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Swear to God that you won't torture me!" 8For Jesus had said to him, "Come out of this man, you evil spirit!"
9Then Jesus asked him, "What is your name?"
"My name is Legion," he replied, "for we are many." 10And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.
11A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12The demons begged Jesus, "Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them." 13He gave them permission, and the evil spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.
14Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened. 15When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 16Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man—and told about the pigs as well. 17Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region.
18As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. 19Jesus did not let him, but said, "Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you." 20So the man went away and began to tell in the
A Dead Girl and a Sick Woman
21When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. 22Then one of the synagogue rulers, named Jairus, came there. Seeing Jesus, he fell at his feet 23and pleaded earnestly with him, "My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live." 24So Jesus went with him.
A large crowd followed and pressed around him. 25And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. 26She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. 27When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed." 29Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.
30At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?"
31"You see the people crowding against you," his disciples answered, "and yet you can ask, 'Who touched me?' "
32But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. 33Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. 34He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."
35While Jesus was still speaking, some men came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. "Your daughter is dead," they said. "Why bother the teacher any more?"
36Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, "Don't be afraid; just believe."
37He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James. 38When they came to the home of the synagogue ruler, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. 39He went in and said to them, "Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep." 40But they laughed at him.
After he put them all out, he took the child's father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41He took her by the hand and said to her, "Talitha koum!" (which means, "Little girl, I say to you, get up!" ). 42Immediately the girl stood up and walked around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. 43He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.
Mark 6
A Prophet Without Honor
1Jesus left there and went to his hometown, accompanied by his disciples. 2When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed.
"Where did this man get these things?" they asked. "What's this wisdom that has been given him, that he even does miracles! 3Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?" And they took offense at him.
4Jesus said to them, "Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor." 5He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. 6And he was amazed at their lack of faith.

۱سپس به آن سوی دریا، به ناحیۀ جِراسیان رفتند.۲چون عیسی از قایق پیاده شد، مردی که گرفتار روح پلید بود، از گورستان بیرون آمد و بدو برخورد.۳آن مرد در گورها به‌سر می‌برد و دیگر کسی را توان آن نبود که او را حتی با زنجیر در بند نگاه دارد.۴زیرا بارها او را با زنجیر و پابندِ آهنین بسته بودند، امّا زنجیرها را گسیخته و پابندهای آهنین را شکسته بود. هیچ‌کس را یارای رام کردن او نبود.۵شب و روز در میان گورها و بر تپه‌ها فریاد برمی‌آورد و با سنگ خود را زخمی می‌کرد.۶چون عیسی را از دور دید، دوان‌دوان آمد و روی بر زمین نهاده،۷با صدای بلند فریاد زد: «ای عیسی، پسر خدای متعال، تو را با من چه کار است؟ تو را به خدا سوگند می‌دهم که عذابم ندهی!»۸زیرا عیسی به او گفته بود: «ای روح پلید، از این مرد به‌در‌آی!»۹آنگاه عیسی از او پرسید: «نامت چیست؟» پاسخ داد: «نامم لِژیون است؛ زیرا بسیاریم.»۱۰و به عیسی التماس بسیار کرد که آنها را از آن ناحیه بیرون نکند.۱۱در تپه‌های آن حوالی، گله بزرگی خوک در حال چرا بود.۱۲دیوها از عیسی خواهش کرده، گفتند: «ما را به درون خوکها بفرست؛ بگذار به آنها درآییم.»۱۳عیسی اجازه داد. پس ارواح پلید بیرون آمدند و به درون خوکها رفتند. گله‌ای که شمار آن حدود دو هزار خوک بود، از سراشیبی تپه به‌درون دریا هجوم برد و در آب غرق شد.
۱۴خوکبانان گریختند و این واقعه را در شهر و روستا بازگفتند، چندان‌که مردم بیرون آمدند تا آنچه را رخ داده بود، ببینند.۱۵آنها نزد عیسی آمدند و چون دیدند آن مرد دیوزده که پیشتر گرفتار لِژیون بود، اکنون جامه به‌تن کرده و عاقل در آنجا نشسته است، وحشت کردند.۱۶کسانی که ماجرا را به چشم دیده بودند، آنچه را بر مرد دیوزده و خوکها گذشته بود، برای مردم بازگفتند.۱۷آنگاه مردم از عیسی خواهش کردند که سرزمین ایشان را ترک گوید.
۱۸چون عیسی سوار قایق می‌شد، مردی که پیشتر دیوزده بود، تمنا کرد که همراه وی برود.۱۹امّا عیسی اجازه نداد و گفت: «به خانه، نزد خویشان خود برو و به آنها بگو که خداوند برای تو چه کرده و چگونه بر تو رحم نموده است.»۲۰پس آن مرد رفت و در سرزمین دِکاپولیس، به اعلام هرآنچه عیسی برای او کرده بود، آغاز کرد و مردم همه در شگفت می‌شدند.
دختر یکی از رئیسان و زن بیمار

۲۱عیسی بار دیگر با قایق به آن سوی دریا رفت. در کنار دریا، جمعیتی انبوه نزدش گرد‌آمدند.۲۲یکی از رئیسان کنیسه که یایروس نام داشت نیز به آنجا آمد و با دیدن عیسی به پایش افتاد۲۳و التماس‌کنان گفت: «دختر کوچکم در حال مرگ است. تمنا دارم آمده، دست خود را بر او بگذاری تا شفا یابد و زنده ماند.»۲۴پس عیسی با او رفت.
گروهی بسیار نیز از پی عیسی به‌راه افتادند. آنها سخت بر او ازدحام می‌کردند.۲۵در آن میان، زنی بود که دوازده سال دچار خونریزی بود.۲۶او تحت درمان طبیبانِ بسیار، رنج فراوان کشیده و همه دارایی خود را خرج کرده بود؛ امّا به‌جای آنکه بهبود یابد، بدتر شده بود.۲۷پس چون دربارۀ عیسی شنید، از میان جمعیت به‌پشت سر او آمد و ردای وی را لمس کرد.۲۸زیرا با خود گفته بود: «اگر حتی به‌ردایش دست بزنم، شفا خواهم یافت.»۲۹در همان‌دم خونریزی او قطع شد و در بدن خود احساس کرد از آن بلا شفا یافته است.۳۰عیسی در‌حالْ دریافت که نیرویی از او صادر شده است. پس در میان جمعیت روی گرداند و پرسید: «چه کسی جامۀ مرا لمس کرد؟»۳۱شاگردان او پاسخ دادند: «می‌بینی که مردم بر تو ازدحام می‌کنند؛ آنگاه می‌پرسی، ”چه کسی مرا لمس کرد؟“»۳۲امّا عیسی به اطراف می‌نگریست تا ببیند چه کسی این کار را کرده است.۳۳پس آن زن که می‌دانست بر او چه گذشته است، لرزان و هراسان آمده، به‌پای عیسی افتاد و حقیقت را به‌تمامی به او گفت.۳۴عیسی به وی گفت: «دخترم، ایمانت تو را شفا داده است. به‌سلامت برو و از این بلا آزاد باش!»
۳۵او هنوز سخن می‌گفت که عده‌ای از خانۀ یایروس، رئیس کنیسه، آمدند و گفتند: «دخترت مرد! دیگر چرا استاد را زحمت می‌دهی؟»۳۶عیسی چون سخن آنها را شنید، به رئیس کنیسه گفت: «مترس! فقط ایمان داشته باش.»۳۷و اجازه نداد جز پِطرُس و یعقوب و یوحنا، برادر یعقوب، کسی دیگر از پی او برود.۳۸چون به خانۀ رئیس کنیسه رسیدند، دید غوغایی به‌پاست و عده‌ای با صدای بلند می‌گریند و شیون می‌کنند.۳۹پس داخل شد و به آنها گفت: «این غوغا و شیون برای چیست؟ دختر نمرده، بلکه در خواب است.»۴۰امّا آنها به او خندیدند. پس از اینکه همۀ آنها را بیرون کرد، پدر و مادر دختر و همچنین شاگردانی را که همراهش بودند با خود برگرفت و به جایی که دختر بود، داخل شد.۴۱آنگاه دست دختر را گرفت و به وی گفت: «تالیتا کوم!» یعنی: «ای دختر کوچک، به تو می‌گویم برخیز!»۴۲او بی‌درنگ برخاست و راه‌رفتن آغاز کرد. آن دختر دوازده ساله بود. آنها از این واقعه بی‌نهایت شگفتزده شدند.۴۳عیسی به آنان دستور اکید داد که نگذارند کسی از این واقعه آگاه شود، و فرمود چیزی به آن دختر بدهند تا بخورد.

بی‌ایمانی مردم ناصره
مَرقُس ۶:۱-۶ - مَتّی ۱۳:۵۴-۵۸
۱سپس عیسی آنجا را ترک گفت و با شاگردان خود به شهر خویش رفت.۲چون روز شَبّات فرارسید، به تعلیم دادن در کنیسه پرداخت. بسیاری با شنیدن سخنان او در شگفت شدند. آنها می‌گفتند: «این مرد همۀ اینها را از کجا کسب کرده است؟ این چه حکمتی است که به او عطا شده؟ و این چه معجزاتی است که به‌دست او انجام می‌شود؟۳مگر او آن نجّار نیست؟ مگر پسر مریم و برادرِ یعقوب، یوشا، یهودا و شَمعون نیست؟ مگر خواهران او اینجا، در میان ما زندگی نمی‌کنند؟» پس در نظرشان ناپسند آمد.۴عیسی بدیشان گفت: «نبی بی‌حرمت نباشد جز در دیار خود و در میان خویشان و در خانه خویش!»۵او نتوانست در آنجا هیچ معجزه‌ای انجام دهد، جز آنکه دست خود را بر چند بیمار گذاشت و آنها را شفا بخشید.۶او از بی‌ایمانی ایشان در حیرت بود
