Jesus Heals a Paralytic

¹A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. ²So many gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. ³Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. ⁴Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. ⁵When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven."

⁶Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, ⁷"Why does this fellow talk like that? He's blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?"

⁸Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in t

heir hearts, and he said to them, "Why are you thinking these things? ⁹Which is easier: to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up, take your mat and walk'? ¹⁰But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins . . . ." He said to the paralytic, ¹¹"I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home." ¹²He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this!"

The Calling of Levi

¹³Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them. ¹⁴As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.

¹⁵While Jesus was having dinner at Levi's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. ¹⁶When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "Why does he eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"

¹⁷On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Jesus Questioned About Fasting

¹⁸Now John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. Some people came and asked Jesus, "How is it that John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, but yours are not?"

¹⁹Jesus answered, "How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? They cannot, so long as they have him with them. ²⁰But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and on that day they will fast.

²¹"No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse. ²²And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, he pours new wine into new wineskins."

Lord of the Sabbath

²³One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. ²⁴The Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?"

²⁵He answered, "Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? ²⁶In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions."

²⁷Then he said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. ²⁸So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."

شفای مرد مفلوج

مَرقُس ۲:‏۳-۱۲ - مَتّی ۹:‏۲-۸؛ لوقا ۵:‏۱۸-۲۶

۱پس از چند روز، چون عیسی دیگربار به کَفَرناحوم درآمد، مردم آگاه شدند که او به خانه آمده است.۲گروهی بسیار گرد‌آمدند، آنگونه که حتی جلو در نیز جایی نبود، و او کلام را برای آنها موعظه می‌کرد.۳در این هنگام، جمعی از راه رسیدند و مردی مفلوج را که چهار نفر حمل می‌کردند، پیش آوردند.۴امّا چون به‌سبب ازدحام جمعیت نتوانستند او را نزد عیسی بیاورند، شروع به برداشتن سقف بالای سر عیسی کردند. پس از گشودن سقف، تشکی را که مفلوج بر آن خوابیده بود، پایین فرستادند.۵چون عیسی ایمان آنها را دید، مفلوج را گفت: «ای فرزند، گناهانت آمرزیده شد.»۶برخی از علمای دین که آنجا نشسته بودند، با خود اندیشیدند:۷«چرا این مرد چنین سخنی بر زبان می‌رانَد؟ این کفر است! چه کسی جز خدا می‌تواند گناهان را بیامرزد؟»۸عیسی در‌دم در روح خود دریافت که با خود چه می‌اندیشند و به ایشان گفت: «چرا در دل چنین می‌اندیشید؟۹گفتن کدامیک به این مفلوج آسانتر است، اینکه ”گناهانت آمرزیده شد“ یا اینکه ”برخیز و تخت خود را بردار و راه برو“؟۱۰حال تا بدانید که پسر‌انسان بر زمین اقتدار آمرزش گناهان را دارد...» - به مفلوج گفت:۱۱«به تو می‌گویم، برخیز، تشک خود برگیر و به خانه برو!»۱۲آن مرد برخاست و بی‌درنگ تشک خود را برداشت و در برابر چشمان همه از آنجا بیرون رفت. همه در شگفت شدند و خدا را تمجیدکنان گفتند: «هرگز چنین چیزی ندیده بودیم.»

دعوت از لاوی

مَرقُس ۲:‏۱۴-۱۷ - مَتّی ۹:‏۹-۱۳؛ لوقا ۵:‏۲۷-۳۲

۱۳عیسی بار دیگر به کنار دریا رفت. مردم همه نزدش گرد می‌آمدند و او آنان را تعلیم می‌داد.۱۴هنگامی که قدم می‌زد، لاوی پسر حَلْفای را دید که در خراجگاه نشسته بود. به او گفت: «از پی من بیا.» او برخاست و از پی عیسی روان شد.

۱۵چون عیسی در خانۀ لاوی بر سفره نشسته بود، بسیاری از خراجگیران و گناهکاران با او و شاگردانش همسفره بودند، زیرا شمار زیادی از آنها او را پیروی می‌کردند.۱۶چون علمای دین که فَریسی بودند، عیسی را دیدند که با گناهکاران و خراجگیران همسفره است، به شاگردان وی گفتند: «چرا با خراجگیران و گناهکاران غذا می‌خورد؟»۱۷عیسی با شنیدن این سخن به ایشان گفت: «بیمارانند که به طبیب نیاز دارند، نه تندرستان. من برای دعوت پارسایان نیامده‌ام، بلکه آمده‌ام تا گناهکاران را دعوت کنم.»

سؤال دربارۀ روزه

مَرقُس ۲:‏۱۸-۲۲ - مَتّی ۹:‏۱۴-۱۷؛ لوقا ۵:‏۳۳-۳۸

۱۸زمانی که شاگردان یحیی و فَریسیان روزه‌دار بودند، عده‌ای نزد عیسی آمدند و گفتند: «چرا شاگردان یحیی و شاگردان فَریسیان روزه می‌گیرند، امّا شاگردان تو روزه نمی‌گیرند؟»۱۹عیسی پاسخ داد: «آیا ممکن است میهمانان عروسی تا زمانی که داماد با ایشان است، روزه بگیرند؟ تا وقتی داماد با آنهاست نمی‌توانند روزه بگیرند.۲۰امّا زمانی خواهد رسید که داماد از ایشان گرفته شود. در آن ایام روزه خواهند گرفت.

۲۱«هیچ‌کس پارچۀ نو را بر جامۀ کهنه وصله نمی‌زند. اگر چنین کند، وصله از آن کنده شده، نو از کهنه جدا می‌شود، و پارگی بدتر می‌گردد.۲۲و نیز هیچ‌کس شراب نو را در مَشکهای کهنه نمی‌ریزد. اگر چنین کند، آن شراب مَشکها را پاره می‌کند، و اینگونه، شراب و مَشکها هر دو تباه خواهند شد. شراب نو را در مَشکهای نو باید ریخت.»

صاحب روز شَبّات

مَرقُس ۲:‏۲۳-۲۸ - مَتّی ۱۲:‏۱-۸؛ لوقا ۶:‏۱-۵

۲۳در یکی از روزهای شَبّات، عیسی از میان مزارع گندم می‌گذشت و شاگردانش در حین رفتن، شروع به چیدن خوشه‌های گندم کردند.۲۴فَریسیان به او گفتند: «چرا شاگردانت کاری انجام می‌دهند که در روز شَبّات جایز نیست؟»۲۵پاسخ داد: «مگر تا به‌حال نخوانده‌اید که داوود چه کرد آنگاه که خود و یارانش محتاج و گرسنه بودند؟۲۶او در زمان اَبیاتار، کاهن‌اعظم، به خانۀ خدا درآمد و نان تقدیمی را خورد و به یارانش نیز داد، هرچند خوردن آن تنها برای کاهنان جایز است.»۲۷آنگاه به ایشان گفت: «شَبّات برای انسان مقرر شده، نه انسان برای شَبّات.۲۸بنابراین، پسر‌انسان حتی صاحب شَبّات است.»
